It\u2019s a joy to play, with a warmth and darkness of tone throughout the lower register alongside just the right amount of power and projection across the range. An incredibly responsive and free blowing mouthpiece, it gives me just what I was looking for, control, ease of playing and an impressive depth of sound. I can\u2019t recommend it highly enough. Strikingly good&#8217;<br \/>\r\n                                                      -London Jazz News<br \/><br \/>\r\n\r\n\u2018Molley is a muscular player yet his tenor sax sang beautifully, sultry and lyrical\u2019\u3000\u3000The Scotsman<br \/><br \/>\r\n\r\n\r\nBrian Molley works as a freelance saxophonist, composer and teacher and is based in Scotland.<br \/><br \/>\r\n\r\nBrian studied music at The University of Glasgow and The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Whilst completing his studies at the RSAMD on an Academy Trust Scholarship he was a finalist in the Haverhill Sinfonia International Soloist<br \/>\r\n Competition, runner-up in the Saxophone and Clarinet Society\u2019s Young Player Competition and winner of the RSAMD Governors Recital Prize for chamber music. During this time Brian also performed the world premiere of Michael Spencer\u2019s saxophone concerto \u201c\u2026los redes des piedra\u2026\u201d with The Kelvin Ensemble\/Garry Walker.<br \/><br \/>\r\n\r\nHis extensive CV has included performances with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, The Orchestra of Scottish Opera, Paragon Contemporary Music Ensemble, The Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Hue and Cry, Ricky Ross, Silicone Soul, Bad Manners, The DT6, The Peatbog Faeries, Isobel Campbell and Camille O\u2019Sullivan among many others. Jazz projects have included work with Valery Ponomarev, Stan Sulzmann, The Everything Treatment, The Stu Brown Sextet, Mirium Aida\/Mario Caribe, Red Young Organ Trio, David Patrick Sextet and The Sorensen Soul Workout among many others.<br \/><br \/>\r\n\r\nCareer highlights to date have included working in London\u2019s West End and on Broadway, New York on the National Theatre of Scotland\/Improbable production The Wolves in the Walls. In 2009 Brian was invited by Moroccan charity Terre Sans Frontiere to take part in And\u2019Art, a 10 day collaborative project between Moroccan and International musicians, artists and film-makers, based in Tangiers.<br \/><br \/>\r\n\r\nIn 2010, as a member of The Raymond Scott Project\/Stu Brown Sextet, Brian was commissioned by the Scottish Arts Council to produce an arrangement of Scott\u2019s music. Portofino was premiered at Gateshead International Jazz Festival, March 2010. It has since been extensively toured throughout the UK. The Raymond Scott Project has performed at many prestigious UK venues including the Purcell Room for London Jazz Festival, as well as at Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Cheltenham Jazz Festivals.<br \/><br \/>\r\n\r\n2011 saw Brian launch www.britunes.co.uk, a free music resource for student saxophonists which continues to attract significant web traffic.<br \/>\r\nBrian and Mario Caribe collaborated with Fabio Torres and Edu Ribeiro from Sao Paolo, Brazil in summer 2012, on a project of original compositions presented at Edinburgh Jazz Festival.<br \/><br \/>\r\n\r\nIn spring 2013, Brian recorded his debut album as a leader with Tom Gibbs on piano, Mario Caribe on bass and Stuart Brown on  drums. Featuring 8 original compositions alongside 2 arrangements of classic standards \u2018Clock\u2019 was released to critical acclaim on 14th October, 2013.<br \/>\r\n2014 sees the quartet appearing at Manchester Jazz Festival and at the Edinburgh Fringe as part of the prestigious Creative Scotland curated \u2018Made in Scotland\u2019 programme.
